They needed a registration tool that would be scalable and customizable to address the needs of their diverse customer base. They also needed to allow for changes in the look and feel of the registration process. Facilities Management Company – Handheld Inspection Application
- Business Problem – The client manages facilities for large organizations around the U.S. Their inspectors periodically inspect these facilities to evaluate the condition of building exteriors, interiors, and fixtures. Prior to Excell’s .NET solution, they would process all inspections on paper and then manually enter that information into a tracking system.
- Solution – Excell designed a custom application that ran on handheld Pocket PC devices that allowed inspectors to record data while they were inspecting the facilities. The inspection notes fed into a custom database and integrated with the client’s order tracking system. The automated process significantly reduced the client’s paperwork and reporting capabilities.

Government – Office XP/Windows XP Migration
- Business Problem – Our client was facing significant challenges with the management of over 650 desktop computers. These workstations were running various versions of the Windows operating systems, including Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows 2000. They also had an older version of Office which required an upgrade, as well as over 100 applications, scattered across the computers, which needed to be migrated.
- Solution – Excell developed an image and migration strategy to significantly reduce the complexity of support issues and Help Desk calls. They also designed and tested a system image that would work across all of the client’s computers. The solution minimized the client’s number of incoming support calls to reduce costs, improved consistency among the computers and applications, and increased support efficiency.

Government – Enterprise Application Integration and Quality Assurance
- Business Problem – Our client had the need to implement, test, and deploy the upgrade of a large-scale, mission-critical system. Technology Company – .NET Survey Application
- Business Problem – In an effort to measure customer satisfaction, the client needed to create an application capable of easily surveying thousands of employees with over thirty questions. They also needed to filter customer responses as they were received, as well as have the capability to reuse the application for future surveys.
- Solution – The solution modified the existing client satisfaction survey application which resulted in a 60% cost savings. The new survey was designed to be entirely driven from a SQL Server database without any static pages. All questions and answers were stored in database tables with a web interface to allow for easy creation and changes. Questions were rotated automatically each time a new user accessed the survey. Additionally, the survey gave the user a constant update of their progress (percent complete). The final solution created an efficient, scalable process for the group to complete their surveys with quick turnaround.
