What is recruitment fraud?
Recruitment fraud is a growing trend where a fraudulent job is posted and/or there is misrepresentation in contacting an individual with the false promise of being hired by a company. Typically, these individuals will present themselves as employees of companies like eXcell, a Division of CompuCom Systems, Inc. The intent of recruitment fraud is to gain access to your personal information, such as your banking information, credit card number, or social security number.
Some common examples of this include, but are not limited to asking you to make payments for costs like travel expenses, or a background check. After receiving payment, the fraudulent party ends contact with the victim.
These phishing scams go to great lengths to collect your personal information. They may claim to work for the corporation or even create fake websites and conduct online interviews, that also resemble employee portals or career sites as a collection point for your data.
